Civil Celebrant Hong Kong
Your wedding day is a special occasion, and it is also a legal one. In Hong Kong, marriage is a legal contract, and the formalities need to be completed correctly for the marriage to be properly recognised.
At Jal N. Karbhari, Solicitors & Notary, our team can act as your civil celebrant and, as your marriage lawyers in Hong Kong, guide you through the legal side of getting married. As appointed civil celebrants of marriage, we are authorised to solemnise marriages in Hong Kong, and we can help with everything from filing the notice of intended marriage to conducting the ceremony and registering the marriage.

Couples who are permanent residents or ordinary residents of Hong Kong.

(Note: Hong Kong does not currently recognize same-sex marriage, but we can advise on alternative legal arrangements.)

Couples Seeking a Non-Religious Ceremony
A civil ceremony that is meaningful, personal, and legally binding.
Our Civil Celebrant Services
Marriage ceremonies
As appointed civil celebrants of marriage, our team is authorised to solemnise marriages under the Marriage Ordinance. Each ceremony is legally recognised and can be personalised to reflect what matters most to you. We guide you through the ceremony, including the exchange of vows, the signing of the register, and the marriage certificate.
Legal formalities and documentation
We can help with each step of marrying in Hong Kong, including filing the notice of intended marriage, which must generally be lodged at least fifteen clear days before the ceremony, preparing any required statutory declaration, checking identity documents, and obtaining the marriage certificate.
Advice before marriage
Marriage carries legal implications as well as personal ones. As your marriage lawyers in Hong Kong, our team can advise on matters such as property, wills and estate planning, and, for cross-border couples, immigration and residency, and we can prepare a pre-nuptial agreement if you would like one.
Services after marriage
After the wedding, we can assist with matters such as change of name documents, updating or preparing a will, since marriage affects an existing will, and any related immigration applications.
